To Autumn

Posted on

O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stain’d
With the blood of the grape, pass not, but sit
Beneath my shady roof; there thou may’st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe,
And all the daughters of the year shall dance!
Sing now the lusty song of fruits and flowers.

“The narrow bud opens her beauties to
The sun, and love runs in her thrilling veins;
Blossoms hang round the brows of Morning, and
Flourish down the bright cheek of modest Eve,
Till clust’ring Summer breaks forth into singing,
And feather’d clouds strew flowers round her head.

“The spirits of the air live in the smells
Of fruit; and Joy, with pinions light, roves round
The gardens, or sits singing in the trees.”
Thus sang the jolly Autumn as he sat,
Then rose, girded himself, and o’er the bleak
Hills fled from our sight; but left his golden load.

– William Blake 1783

First, thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I asked the Lord when I started mine to send the people by that He would want me to follow and gain inspiration, insight and yes even teaching. (I’m an ole dog you CAN teach new tricks too!!)
Anyway, He is ever so faithful as I truly love, LOVE poetry of all kinds. I haven’t been blessed with the ability to create such great sentiment and imagery, but, I HAVE been blessed with a love for it and I have found some GREAT blogs of inspiration! I have read about three of your submissions so far and I love them all and I am looking so forward to coming back and reading so much more. I also have a page for poetry that I like to reblog, but will always let you know and you will always get the credit (I like WordPress because of the credit an author gets).
I am also going to put you site on my Links page and I will be following yours as well! I will be honest though and tell you ahead of time, I follow many blogs and usually take at least a couple of days a week, (I’m an avid reader) to make the rounds and sometimes it takes me a bit to get back to a site I follow, but I will follow and most often comment especially when inspired with such imagery and insight!
I loved this poem and the Rain, Rain one too, as crazy as it seems, my wife and I moved from central Arizona two years ago to Colorado and we missed the seasons, so any type of change is so nice to experience!!!
Anyway, until next time, God bless you greatly and abundantly as you continue to serve (minister) to those of us who come by for inspiration and beauty and also to the Lord!!
